House of Dun & Angus Folk Museum

Carol gave us a tour with just the two of us. So knowledgable and lovely, and ana amazing collection within the house. One of the best we’ve seen in Scotland

First class guided tour of house that told a lot more of the history with “Violet Jacob”. Only downside was the need to pre-book as yours finished relatively early.

The tour of the house was great, not really into stuff like that but actually found it really interesting and well explained by the staff, all the little exhibits you can look at are good as well. If you like the outdoors there are a few lovely walks and a waterfall here if you’re wanting to get a nice pic would definitely recommend.

Absolutely brilliant tour of the house. You have to book especially out of season as there are less slots. Gorgeous house and lovely garden area with a good cafe as well.

Our guide Fraser was very informative and entertaining. House and grounds were beautiful, so well preserved throughout. The cafe (Erskine?) served lovely soup, different sausage rolls and cakes. The shortbread was particularly lovely. All staff very nice, will return.

The house and grounds are stunning! We had a guided tour that we booked in advance and the guy that took us around was brilliant - very friendly, upbeat and welcoming - very informative too! Absolutely loved the visit and would highly recommend - avoid Google Maps directions which take you through the private back entrance and go through the main tourist entrance to the carpark !!

The house and gardens are lovely and worth a visit but the cafe was pricey for what you receive. Wouldn't recommend the cafe

I didn't go inside the house but wandered the grounds - had my dog with me - and stopped off for a tea and cake from the cafe, sitting on the lawn. Friendly staff. I'd visit again.

Visited on Saturday for the Hairst festival. It was a beautiful day. Absolutely beautiful place to visit and the views are stunning. Myself and my husband were greeted with Scottish dancers, great to see the young girls keeping this up. There was some stalls selling delicious cakes that we bought and gins, vodkas that we enjoyed sampling and buying for Early Xmas gifts. We sat a while in the small square and listened to a young man sing, he was really good considering he didn't have a Mike to sing with. Went into all the little cottages with things all about the past which was really interesting. Also went into the shop and the sales lady was really chatty and polite. We didn't actually go into the main building but we will definitely be back to do that on our next visit. Also had a delicious 😋 hot dog from the van. Do you do this every year? It was a fabulous day so thankyou. Maybe needed a few more stalls and a few more tables to sit at.

Good day out. Grounds have a lot of areas to walk. Has had a lot of care and attention in recent years, lots of renovations to path ways etc. play park could do with a bit of an update but is in no way out of shape, still safe to use etc. Cafe sells a good selection of food and drink. All round just a nice day out. Parking isn’t too bad, a few ££ which helps towards the upkeep. I do believe there is a vintage bus which occasionally runs from house of dun to the Caledonian railway station.

Grounds are nice but not for everyone. Not suitable for disabled. Coffee shop okay but poor gluten free selection. I’m afraid I found the staff a bit uninterested in us. Can’t comment on the house as we didn’t do the tour.
